Are you a Garments, Accessories, Home furnishings or a Shoe Manufacturer who wants to know all about Crepe fabric? If yes, then do watch out this video till end. Hello, this is Tushar from Charu Creation Pvt Ltd, a fashion fabric company at Nehru Place, New Delhi. So friends, Crepe is the name given to fabric having a crinkled or pebbled texture, often used for blouses and dresses with graceful drape. Almost any fiber may be used, and the fabric can be thin and sheer, fine and opaque, or even heavy.

Therefore, it is common to see garments made out of Cotton Crepe, Rayon Crepe, Polyester Crepe, Silk Crepe and even Wool Crepe fabrics. Crepe may be stretchy, requiring care to cut and sew accurately. Its distinctive surface may be achieved by taking advantage of yarn twist, by arranging a suitable weave structure, by employing uneven warp tension, or by applying a chemical treatment. Crepe is highly in demand around the world because of its unique look and comfortable, lightweight feel.

Crepe fabric gives the wearer a slimming appearance and has a very graceful fall, making it a great fabric for party events or other formal occasions; however, crepe fabrics are also preferred for daily wear because they require little to no ironing and are very soft and comfortable. Crepe fabrics are extremely popular with professional women because of its distinctive look but are very easy to maintain and wear. Among all the varieties of Crepe Fabrics, Silk Crepe also called Crepe de chine, is the most luxurious and demanded fabric.

It is lightweight, has a distinctive sheen and a lustrous look that contrasts beautifully with the bumps and ridges on the surface. Think of scarves and the fabric Silk crepe comes into the mind. French crepe fabric is another very fine and light type of fabric known for its slightly flatter appearance and more subtle crinkles. Both Silk Crepe & French Crepe are used to make lehenga cholis and sarees as well as salwar kameez and tunics. Moving further, Cotton crepe and Rayon Crepe fabrics are the

preferred choices for making summer wear. There are light and pretty fabrics which provide airiness and comfort to the wearer. Another crepe variety called Polyester crepe fabric is immensely popular because of its affordability and stylish look. It is most often used to make casual or daily wear clothes. It is also very commonly used as a lining material. For winter wear, wool crepe fabric is an extremely popular choice. Woven using strands of wool, this fabric is the perfect combination of comfort and elegance.

The fabric still retains its puckered and wrinkled appearance but the use of wool lends some heaviness to it. It is used to make beautiful tunics, dresses and salwar kameez for winter wear. Wool crepe is also used to created lingerie. A fun fact, traditionally, crepe fabric was worn by women at times of mourning in many Western cultures. Infact, crepe is still used by Orthodox Greek women for mourning
